AFF Futsal name National League squad

AFF Futsal head coach Marvin Eakins has named a strong squad ahead of the Futsal National League Northern Home Series scheduled to start on Sunday 15 October.

Eakins, 32, has seen it all in futsal but the 51-cap New Zealand international fixo is optimistic ahead of the new campaign.

Another Futsal White, 18-cap Stephen Ashby-Peckham, flanker, is also back.

“We’re looking forward to the start of the Futsal National League getting underway after a busy couple of months of international futsal.

“Half of the squad will be making their debut for AFF although Josh, Sean and Andre bring experience from playing in other National League teams.

“There is a lot of talent in the group and Adam Paulsen and Chris Preece come into the squad after competing in the OFC Youth Futsal Championship with New Zealand.

“Eduardo Exposito Espinosa has played to a very high standard in Europe and could make a big impact for us during the campaign,” Eakins said.

Last season AFF Futsal collapsed at the semi-final stage losing 6-1 to WaiBOP Futsal despite being the only side to put together a perfect winning record in the Auckland series.

That run included wins over Southern United (5-0), Capital Futsal (10-2), Canterbury United (4-1) and Central Futsal Manawatu (3-2).

The action starts for AFF Futsal with the first of two clashes with Northern Futsal on Sunday 15 October 2017 at Trusts Arena in Henderson.

Last season Auckland and Northern drew both their Home Series clashes 3-3 and 4-4.

The first match kicks off at 9.30am with the second set for 3.00pm.

The matches will be streamed live here.
