Auckland Football Federation is excited about the delivery of a groundbreaking NZF Goalkeeping Level 1 Coaching Award set for April 30 and May 1.
Football Development Officer Nic Downes explained why the course was causing a stir.
“This course is a first for Auckland Football with Capital and WaiBOP rolling out the courses most recently.
“The aim is to create specialist coaches of goalkeepers and foster a deeper understanding of the role, required attributes and advanced techniques.

“We’ve run four courses for goalkeeper coaches over the past 18 months with 40-50 coaches passing through these programmes
“We have had a steady rate of registrations but we’re looking to increase that. We’re serious about developing goalkeepers in what is a key position in our sport,” Downes said.
Auckland Football Development Manager and former All Whites goalkeeper and captain Jason Batty is set to deliver the course at Three Kings United. Batty is also the current New Zealand U-17 goalkeeper coach.
The NZF Goalkeeping Level 1 Coaching Award is part of the Community Pathway.
The course is run in two parts with a five hour class set for Sunday 30 April and a three hour wrap-up on Monday 1 May.
